The Bolm Skincare line began when an herbal salve was first blended in hopes of easing discomfort from a skin condition called Dermatitis Herpetiformis. A small itchy, burning rash that doctors were calling “a patch of dry skin” was unknowingly caused by a gluten sensitivity, and the rash would escalate whenever caffeine was consumed. Well this new skin remedy worked. It soothed the inflamed skin, relieved the itch and healed the rash within a few days. And it also helped the rest of the family cope with the rigorous alpine climate, living at over 6,000 ft near Aspen, CO.
Over time, the popularity of “the balm”, as we all called it, quickly grew among family and friends. Then one day we realized selling it could potentially become a business. Soon packaging was chosen, the brand’s logo was designed and labels were printed. For the logo, the “a” in the word balm was changed to an “o” because all of the ingredients were sourced from organic farms. And from there, the word bolm lovingly became the acronym:
